Summer Fun

Yes, I know it’s been quite some time since I’ve written . . . I’m terribly sorry (really, I am).  Some days I don’t really know what to write and others I feel like I could go on forever (though I tend to spare you the details ~ you’re welcome, by the way!).  While this blog is attached to Painted Beauty (the business), I feel inclined to write about whatever is happening at the moment . . . even if it’s non-business related.  So, here’s the skinny on what’s been going on since my last entry . . .

Ranard and I took Pal on a hike at Crowder’s Mountain today.  It was great fun and quite a workout.  We chose the “strenuous” trail . . . brilliant idea!  We hadn’t even walked 0.3 miles before I was huffing and puffing!!!!  Thank goodness for the boulders strategically placed along the trail . . . a rest was required along the way.  Pal was a trooper and forged ahead without any coaxing.  Perhaps mom and dad need some more cardiovascular conditioning!!!!  The view from the top was absolutely gorgeous . . . well worth the rubbery legs and gasping (I assure you).

I traveled to Dallas, Texas for the eWomen Network International Conference & Business Expo.  The conference featured distinguished speakers from all over the country and provided business owners with a variety of workshops to attend.  It was fabulous to meet women from not only the U.S., but from Canada and Australia as well.  Dallas is a great city . . . definitely a mix of old and new (think Buffalo meets Charlotte).  We had so much fun seeing the sites and enjoying delicious food (seafood, tex-mex, and . . . OH MY GOSH, the BEST mango margaritas I have ever tasted in my entire life!!!!!).  Seriously, if you’re ever in the West Village of Dallas, you have to visit Mi Cocina for wonderfullly delicious mexican food and margaritas.

As for the jewelry, well, let’s see . . . The L.O.F.T. of Asheville (www.loftofasheville.com) now carries Painted Beauty Jewelry (yay!!!).  In addition, I’ve been keeping busy working on custom orders and creating new designs for the upcoming season . . . I must say, I am really excited about what I’ve put together so far.  I can’t wait to share everything with you!  On that note, I must get going.  I have more to create and I’m certainly not working on jewelry if I’m sitting here typing!

One-of-a-Kind Beauties . . .

Babbling Brook

“May brooks and trees and singing hills join in the chorus too,
and every gentle wind that blows, send happiness to you.”
~Irish Blessing

As women, aren’t we all a bit fond of the idea of having the only one of something?  Something that is unique, unusual, and undeniably desired by others?  Something that can’t be found anywhere else (except for your jewelry box, that is)?  If you’re thinking, “I don’t really care if someone else has the same necklace as me . . . ” then you’re kidding yourself.  There’s something magical about having something that is different!  You know it’s true!!!

Recently, Debbie, the Managing Director for the Lake Norman Chapter of the eWomen Network approached me with what she called “stones.”  She proceeded to hand over a little bag containing four different stones . . . all shiny, all different in shape and size, and all extremely beautiful.  She gave me free reign to create something unusual using one of her beloved “stones.”  YAY!!!!!  What fun it was to be creative and design something that would be hers and hers alone.  The finished product was unlike anything I had ever created before.  I had never worked with a loose stone before . . . a stone that didn’t have any drilled holes through which I could feed wire.  This time I had to expand my thoughts and ideas.  I taught myself how to do a basket weave with the wire to make a “cage” for the stone.  I loved every minute of this project . . . and I would like to do more!  Where am I going with this?  I’ll tell you!

If you are someone who ~
. . . has sea glass or loose stones (or even chandelier crystals)
. . . has vintage, heirloom jewelry that needs repurposing
. . . has a favorite color or a favorite gemstone
. . . is looking for a one-of-a-kind gift to give someone special
. . . is looking for something unique and different

I’m your gal!  I would be happy to create a custom piece of jewelry especially for you or someone special in your life.  Just give me a call (704) 293-5343 or e-mail me Leigh@paintedbeauty.com to chat!
